New IDEXX lab equipment installed

25th April 2019

We have just made a significant investment into new lab equipment for our practice laboratory. Our previous machines were becoming very outdated and we were getting very limited by the tests that we are able to offer. One of the previous machines was over 30 years old!

We can now offer extended biochemistry tests that look at internal organs, detailed haematology analysis and improved urine processing.

Sick Animals

We can now process urgent samples for poorly animals that can provide vital information about internal organ function and health. This can save vital time as previously we could have to wait over 24hrs to receive results back from the external laboratories.

For the first time we can now offer a full haematology service as well which gives information about such problems as anaemias, white cell counts, inflammation, infection etc.

Disease Monitoring

We can also now provide a much more in-depth monitoring service for conditions such as Kidney disease, Liver disease, Diabetes, Thyroid Disease and Epilepsy amongst others. We will also shortly be able to offer Progesterone testing as well for breeders that are looking at the optimal time for mating. All with the benefit of results being turned around in under a few hours.

If you want to find out more about what we now able to offer, feel free to give us a ring and talk to any of the vets or nurses at the practice.

In the second of her series looking at the role of animals in war, vet nurse Meg Gardner looks at life in the trenches for the men and dogs of Twenty-two Company King’s Fusiliers. An uncompromising tale of life on the front line in 1916, as told from the perspective of the dogs who lived and worked alongside the soldiers of the British Forces. A tale of loyalty and friendship, hardship and loss. As both men and dogs face the horrors of warfare, an unexpected arrival in the trenches shows both dogs and men the value of compassion.
